Getting Back on Track
Greetings great minds and a merry Christmas in arrears. It is my hope that you are having a great end of the year 2021.
Today I am sharing an interesting conversation that followed a resurgence, which makes me appreciate how creatives are motivated to get back on track after an intentional or unintentional drift. Read on, please👇👇👇
After three earlier checks, I got another knock and the door went ajar; there stood the peering inquisitive eyes.
“Mum you are still in here? It’s too long, you have been here since. Are you still p🤔🤔ing? Are you okay? What are you doing with your phone, movie or work?”
“Oh! Yes I am okay, yes am done, no, I’m not done and yes am on something. Am reading and writing something”, I responded with a look that screamed no more questions princess.
I was having a great time, ideas were flowing and I wasn’t going to be distracted, so glad she was sensitive enough to let me be. Finally I could pickup from where I stopped, I thought to myself.
Writers block had placed me on a break from personal reading and writing, thank God I delivered on all official tasks🙏.
Zeroing my gaze on the clock, I realized I have been in the rest room for over an hour and a half. My Pretty-princess 🥰 her concerns were genuine, never have I spent that much time emptying, not even the three combined missions take that long😜.
For months, I have tried to pull out but couldn’t and here I am feeling cool and comfortable, crafting and drafting a very interesting piece (hopefully, I will fell the same way after a second sober read🤔). It’s just so funny how things, places, situations, people, feelings can trigger us to switch off on our abilities.
Having been exhausted from several unsuccessful attempt to get my grove back, I recently decided to let time play the trick. While trusting on God’s inspiration and enjoying every bit and pieces of life, I leaned on His words, music and movies (the endless options of Netflix subscription was the perfect distraction I needed)☺️.
Thanks to my wonderful support system, with every word from the beautiful movies and lyrics of the songs I got better and today yours truly is gradually feeling the hotness of the sun and the coldness of the Christmas harmattan. I spent some time out at the exalted chambers drafting not wondering💃💃💃.
To all who are undergoing what I choose to see as a creative pause or transition; or to those still trapped or experiencing a momentary blockage or switch, I would say, be easy on yourself!. Enjoy the break, take each moment to appreciate the other things you rarely have time to notice.
Forget the deadline and give yourself a treat, visit someone or a place of interest, read a book, listen to talks, watch movies, listen to music, dance, mime, draw, paint, do other things that might interest you.
Experience has shown that nature is a cost effective mood therapist: a walk, a swim, a climb, sight seeing but to mention a few will do the magic, just find your spec and give it a shot.
All the aforementioned will no doubt rejuvenate your capacity as a creative, however if need be, feel free to research more, share with someone (support system or and phycologists) and get the help your deserve.
Take all the time you need and get back on track, happy, greater and better.🤗🤗🤗
If you by any chance appreciate this piece, please don’t forget to like, follow, share and or leave a comment. Do have a waoh! Celebrations and Holidays🥳
Hoping someone will exhale, smile, learn and be motivated today! ✌️✌️😊☺️🤗
